Are you full of innovative ideas and thoughts? Would you like to work with a team and solve real-life problems and have some fun on the side?

INNOWAR 2017 is an innovation competition between four teams of 4-6 students. Teams are looking to find solutions for the problems handed out by the entrepreneurs or the public sector (municipalities) in Lapland. Teams will be competing against each other’s to find out who has the best ideas.

Each team has a mentor who will help the team achieve the best result possible. All mentors are energetic people from Lapland and experts in their field of work.

The competition is open to all students (including exchange students) from University of Lapland and Lapland University of Applied Sciences. Entering INNOWAR 2017 is free of charge for all participants.

The road to the innovation competition begins with a kick-off event in Rovaniemi 13th of November. INNOWAR 2017 is held 26.-28. of November in Ylläs, one of Finland’s biggest ski resorts.

The deadline for applications is 31st of October. You can apply to the INNOWAR 2017 competition alone, with a pair or with a team consisting of 4-6 students. Please notice that we put emphasis on multidisciplinary teams. Students applying alone or with a pair will be put together at the kick-off event to form final teams. Apply now – the number of participants is limited. All students chosen to take part in the competition will be informed personally.

Winners will receive an amazing prize! Members of the winning team get the chance to visit one of Europe’s biggest start-up events, Slush, in Helsinki on Friday 1st of December (http://www.slush.org/). Winners will also receive a VR gift card worth of 150 euros that can be used to pay the trip to Helsinki, for example. 

Students participating in the competition have an opportunity to get ECTS credits.
